Judy Michelangeli
Clinical Member CAPAV, MATT, NALAG
Prior to training in post-graduate Trauma Therapy, Family Therapy and Bereavement Intervention, Judy had 15 years experience in education, which included supporting parents and teachers of children with complex needs. Judy then spent 11 years in hospitals addressing the psychosocial needs of children, adolescents and their families.
In recent years, Judy has been working to support those facing loss and conflict from family breakdown. As a qualified counsellor with Road Trauma Support Services, Judy has also helped those affected by road trauma. She works also with pregnancy loss and related issues; and with couples wishing to enhance their relationships. Her background in education, as well as being a parent herself, has been invaluable in her work with parental concerns and anxieties. Currently her clients include those affected by Black Saturday's bushfires through the ACGB, and young people at risk within the homelessness service system. She is a registered WorkCover provider.
Judy has learned, in her life and work, that without the comfort of other human beings in times of need, none of us is very strong. With the support of people who accept and understand us, however, we can develop the capacity to survive almost anything - and ultimately reclaim and reconnect with life again.
