Judy Michelangeli

Judy is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. She completed four years post-graduate studies in Family Therapy; Trauma and Loss; and also Bereavement Intervention. This followed graduating and working initially in early Childhood Development; then supporting children with additional needs through the Pre-School Field Officer program over a 15 year period. 10 years working with hospitalised children and their families using play therapy followed before she re-commenced further study.
Judy has a special interest in family, individual and couple work, either short or longer term. Sometimes a session or two is enough to clarify and/or reassure those with worries or concerns. For others it may lead to a wish to explore things in more depth. This may include parenting, family and relationship issues; situations causing anxiety, loss and adapting to change; illness or accident; working through family conflict or breakdown. Currently Judy also works with two agencies - one concerned with the psycho-emotional factors related to pregnancy and fertility issues; and the other with a family mediation and reconciliation program. Her own family experience, which now includes grandchildren, has proven invaluable in her work.
Judy is a registered Workcover Provider for counselling in loss and grief; and also has a Medibank Private Provider Number (limited access). She welcomes an initial phone call to discuss a potential client's concerns before she commits to a session. Fees are negotiable; and open to change where necessary.
